Angelina Jolie in sit-down interview tonight with Christiane Amanpour on CNN International at 20:00.

Angelina Jolie will be doing a sit-down interview with Christiane Amanpour tonight (Wednesday) on Amanpour on CNN International at 20:00 (South African time).

Yesterday Angelina Jolie and William Hague, the United Kingdom's foreign secretary, launched a fight against wartime rape at a four day summit in London - the largest of its kind yet.

"This whole subject has been taboo for far too long. Warzone rape is a crime that thrives on silence and denial," said Angelina Jolie, according to Britain's The Independent. "Survivors suffer under a stigma which causes feelings of shame and worthlessness".

"Rapists feel above the law, because the law rarely touches them and society tolerates them," said Angelina Jolie.

"This evil will continue, ruing the lives of millions of people, unless we make this summit a turning point. We must send a message around the world that there is no disgrace in being a survivor of sexual violence, that the shame is with the aggressor".

According to The Guardian the conference aims to draw up an international agreement on standards for documenting and investigating sexual violence in conflict zones in an attempt to ensure justice for victims.

Campaigners are also pressing for armies to be trained to prevent sexual violence in conflict zones and for more support for survivors.

Angelina Jolie said that she wanted to dedicate the conference to a rape victim she recently interviewed in Bosnia, who felt so humiliated by what had happened to her that she could not even tell her own son, reports the BBC.

"She felt that having had no justice for her particular crime, in her particular situation, and having seen the actual man who raped her on the streets free, she really felt abandoned by the world. This day is for her."
